Speaker of Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova Meets with Mayor of Kuala Lumpur Maimunah Mohd Sharif

As part of her working visit to Malaysia, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova had a meeting on 19 September with the Mayor of the country’s capital of Kuala Lumpur and former Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT) Maimunah Mohd Sharif.

The existing amity between Azerbaijan and Malaysia was touched upon at the meeting.  

As she was relating the events and meetings in the course of her visit, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis stressed the significance of such contacts in terms of a continued expansion of the ties between our states and parliaments.

The Mayor of Kuala Lumpur mentioned her trips to Azerbaijan and meetings with President Ilham Aliyev, and shared the favourable impressions from the progress of our country and its capital city of Baku. She also mentioned her having held national city-planning fora in Aghdam and Zanghilan as Executive Director of UN-HABITAT. Besides, she lauded the work done in Aghdam, Zanghilan and Fuzuli within a short period and the infrastructure projects implemented there.

The conversation broached the prospects for future co-operation between Baku and Kuala Lumpur.

Also, there was an exchange of views upon other matters of interest to both sides.
