AZERTAC, Malaysia’s Bernama News Agency to enhance cooperation

On November 22, a Malaysian delegation led by Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama), visited the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) during their stay in Baku for the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation Media Forum, held under the theme “Fostering Dialogue, Collaboration, and Regional Cohesion.”

The delegation toured AZERTAC’s photo archive, viewing images of National Leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev, and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva at various events. They also explored a museum exhibition showcasing the technical equipment used by AZERTAC over the years.

The guests familiarized themselves with the bas-relief dedicated to AZERTAC’s martyred journalist Maharram Ibrahimov and were briefed about his life and work.

Vugar Aliyev, Chairman of the Board of AZERTAC, noted that the two agencies have been actively collaborating since 2014, including the exchange of daily news, and highlighted successful bilateral cooperation within the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).

The AZERTAC Chairman emphasized the significance of establishing the D-8 Media Excellence Center, announced during the D-8 Media Forum, noting that it will strengthen cross-border content collaboration and enhance media literacy skills.

Bernama CEO Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin hailed the bilateral cooperation with AZERTAC and stressed that the modern era requires intensified digital information exchange.

The sides also agreed to extend the Memorandum on Cooperation between the two agencies.

Vugar Aliyev invited Bernama officials to participate in the Shusha Global Media Forum scheduled for next year.
